Welcome to Western Sussex County
Planning a beach weekend? Come a little early or stay a little longer to take advantage of midweek tours, presentations, and museum hours! Find a full itinerary of fun things to do in Western Sussex County.
Western Sussex County with the pristine Nanticoke River serving as its centerpiece is a hidden gem just a few minutes outside of the mayhem of the Delaware beaches.
When you plan your next vacation to the Delaware coast, consider getting away from the overcrowded beach and relax along our tranquil river for a few days instead. Our clean Nanticoke River offers outdoor adventurists an array of activities, from boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking to walks or biking along the many trails.
There are also many interesting heritage stories and attractions to visit throughout our area, including ones about the sinister Patty Cannon and the civil rights pioneer Harriet Tubman. Don’t forget to pack a few extra dollars to shop in one of many retailers. We have everything from local chocolates to antiques. The best part? It’s ALL TAX FREE!
We invite you to come explore and connect too our historical gems, the Nanticoke River and its waterways, and the quaint towns and attractions that our communities have to offer. Whether you are a visitor, resident, or business owner, you will get a “hometown feeling” and sense of community.
Isn’t it time you planned a visit?
